“With over 20 years practising as a menopause specialist, I’m passionate about providing a safe and supportive environment to help people who might be anxious about not being taken seriously or worried about being judged for needing help with issues that they might find embarrassing. I have had first-hand experience of many menopause symptoms and understand that everyone has a different menopause experience”.
Dr Amanda Smith
Dr Amanda is an experienced menopause, sexual and reproductive healthcare specialist and psychosexual therapist. She qualified from the University of London (Guy’s Hospital). After working as a GP and passing the Royal College of General Practitioners membership exam, she pursued her interest in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists).
She became a British Menopause Society recognised menopause specialist and ran North Derbyshire NHS Sexual Health Service’s Menopause Clinic until it was decommissioned in 2018 at a time when NHS funding for Community Sexual Health Services was being decimated. Amanda currently works as a private menopause specialist and psychosexual therapist and also works in an NHS sexual health service.
During an initial consultation, Dr Amanda will aim to understand how your menopausal symptoms affect all aspects of your life, be it physical, emotional, occupational or social. She will discuss all options and work with you to develop a management plan which is individualised for your specific circumstances.
