Your doctor may have talked to you about whether Lenzetto™ is right for you. Here’s some information about Lenzetto™, what it does and how to take it.
Lenzetto™ is a spray solution that contains oestradiol – the main oestrogen in our bodies, and it’s used for the oestrogen part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). When you spray Lenzetto™ onto your skin as directed, it passes through your skin into your bloodstream.
HRT Hormone replacement therapy consists of two hormones – oestrogen and progestogen. It’s oestrogen that manages most menopause symptoms, and progestogen protects the lining of the womb. If you still have a womb (you haven’t had a hysterectomy) and you take oestrogen by itself, it can thicken the lining of your womb, increasing your risk of womb cancer. So, if you still have a womb and you have oestrogen-only spray, you’ll also need to use a separate progestogen in a capsule, tablet or the Mirena™ intrauterine system. You can find out more about the Mirena™ here. If you have had a hysterectomy, you can use Lenzetto™ by itself.
Please also read the instructions that come with your Lenzetto™ spray.
The first time you use your new Lenzetto™ spray dispenser, you’ll need to ‘prime’ it. This is easy to do – just spray it three times with the cover on. Remember, you only have to do this once with each brand new spray dispenser and NOT every time you use it.
To apply your daily dose, take off the plastic cover, hold the container upright and rest the plastic cone flat against the skin of your inner forearm. Press the button down fully once. If you’re taking more than one dose (the maximum dose is 3 sprays), move the cone along your forearm to a new place. The areas should not overlap. Switch to your other forearm if you run out of space.
Let the spray dry for at least 2 minutes before getting dressed and at least 60 minutes before bathing or washing.
Note – There is limited data suggesting that the rate and extent of absorption of Lenzetto™ may be reduced in overweight and obese women. Please talk to your doctor if you’re worried that this applies to you.
You can find more information on Lenzetto™ here.
