October is Menopause Awareness Month, and the theme for World Menopause Day on October 18th is HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

For many women, HRT is the most effective way of managing menopause symptoms while transforming how we feel. However, HRT isn’t for everyone. There can be medical reasons why some women can’t take it, some don’t tolerate HRT and others just don’t want to. There is sometimes confusion about what HRT actually is,  how it works & the number of different doses and options available.

So that’s why we’re hosting two FREE events in October where we’re going back-to-basics on HRT. You’ll hear the latest evidence-based thinking about the treatment from our experts as well as having your burning questions answered.

In this first of our two free webinars, we’ll demystify oestrogen and progesterone. Join My Menopause Centre’s co-founders Dr Clare Spencer (Menopause Specialist and GP) and Helen Normoyle for a lively and engaging conversation where they’ll discuss:

  • What each is, how it works and why we need it
  • The different forms each comes in (from gels to patches and everything in between)
  • Different ways to apply and take them including the importance of correct application and the difference that makes
  • Benefits, risks and side effects
  • HRT myth-busting
  • Practicalities (what to do if your patch slides, gel dry time, applying sunscreen etc.)

As ever, there will also be time for your questions. This really is HRT 101 and we’d encourage everyone to come along – whether you’re on HRT or not, so spread the word!

And watch out for sign-up details for Demystifying HRT Part 2 later in October where we’ll focus on testosterone and vaginal oestrogens.
